Areas of the aquarium
The aquarium is not one room: it is several areas with different jobs. Some are open to the public and some are working areas.
Exhibition area
The public area has 32 exhibition tanks. Visit during opening hours, free of charge and without an appointment. It was adapted from a laboratory on the ground floor of building L-5.
Aquaculture Production Laboratory
Working area
The aquarium’s working area: organism culture, nutrition experiments and the systems that support both areas. This is where thesis research and social service take place.
Daily work in the laboratory
Behind the exhibition, the aquarium’s work areas bring together animal care, culture and laboratory activities. These spaces support theses and social service.
Aquarium care
Students participate in tank maintenance and the care of aquatic organisms.
Culture and feeding
Culture tanks support daily animal care and aquaculture nutrition research.
Sample preparation
Laboratory activities connect hands-on learning with research projects.
Analysis and recording
The laboratory also provides space to analyse and record research work.
Fieldwork
The aquarium’s work also extends beyond its facilities. These photographs from its archive show field practices, fish transport and activities on the water.
